Collecting Pull-Tabs for the Ronald McDonald House

Olin Elementary School participates in the Elementary School Pull-Tab Contest. Collecting the pull-tabs is an easy and fun way to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City ships the pull-tabs collected to a recycling center for processing. They receive money from the recycling center based on how many pounds of pull-tabs get delivered. Annually the pull-tab collection program generates over $14,000 to support services for the families and children that the Ronald McDonald House Charities serves. Every pull-tab saved helps!

During the 2014-2015 school year, we collected 4625 pounds of pull-tabs. We increased our collections during the 2015-2016 school year to 5389 pounds! This year we collected 3,582.70 pounds of pull tabs.

Olin Elementary was one of 38 schools that participated in the pull tab program. Together, Olin Elementary and the other schools collected 5.5 million pull tabs during the 2016-2017 school year! The money raised from the pull tabs helped support 23 families during their stay at the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Olin Elementary was the top school winner for the most pull tabs collected per students. Olin Elementary collected an average of 2.94 pounds per student!

We are beyond proud of all the students' hard work and will continue to collect pull-tabs.

Let's keep collecting and save even more next year!
